Beach Bums

Daddy Post: The abundance of pictures in this post is symbolic of the whirlwind we endured during our traditional Oregon coast family vacation this past weekend. We arrived on Thursday to our rental condo in beautiful Manzanita which was conveniently located only a block from the beach. That night we went out and had some pizza with Marty's uncle John (as seen possessing the mountain man beard Willa is so fond of) and his friend Mary Jo. Friday it was off to Seaside for a trip to the old aquirium where the girls marveled at the octopus, seals, and other strange entities. Feeding the seals was a particular highlight. The seals themselves were rather intelligent engaging in a variety of "tricks" (slapping, splashing, barking, rolling over, etc.) trying to covet our attention and fish heads. From the aquarium we paid a visit to the local carousel which eventually left Willa disappointed to have to dismount her trusty steed.

Saturday we drove south and visited the Oregon Aviation Museum which had a great collection of vintage aircraft. The girls enjoyed sitting in a few of the cockpits and I enjoyed the adult entertainment via Rose's Raiders. We also enjoyed the manufacturing of some traditional American propaganda as you can see in a couple of the pictures. Also in the pictures you will see Ruby delivering one of her patented stomache kicks to Willa. Willa has no problem returning the favor, but I can tell that I'm going to have to work on my referee skills as they continue to elevate their rivalry. From there we stopped at the Tillamook Creamery for lunch and some ice cream along with what seemed like every other strange tourist family in Oregon. That night we ate Dinner at Mo's in Cannon Beach where we walked off the chowder on the beach amidst the glow of sunset and majesty of haystack rock. Sunday morning it was an early Father's Day breakfast at Wanda's before returing to the comfort of home. Great times and memories. I couldn't be a luckier father and husband.
