Just Some Things I Like to Do in My Free Time

Daddy Post: All is well in RubyLand with lots of trips to the numerous local parks where Ruby is able to sample the various attractions. Slides are an early favorite. When not at the park new activities include reading in the buff while getting her diaper changed and putting a blanket on the dog. Fortunately, Jack's been a good sport. We're looking forward to visiting Alexandria next weekend and seeing the fam damily. Should be lots of fun with Ruby being eager to assert her new dog wrestling skills upon Jake & Charlie Zimmerman.

BFFs (Best Friends Forever)

Momma Post: Jack had no idea what was in store with Ruby's arrival into the household. Items of contention and compromise include: giving up the baby role; pulled ears and tufts of hair; lots of slobbery kisses; being chased around the living room; sharing food from the dog bowl or on the floor; having to share the stuffed squirrel; and, worst or best of all....having to make room in the dog bed. That's what "big sisters" are for, right?

Ruby's recent demonstrations of no fear have led to a few bumps and bruises. The little scuff on her face is from getting ahead of herself while running along the Eastbank Esplanade. Jennifer, her caregiver, told us that she's climbing up the jungle gym and scooting to the slide all by herself. She became distraught when the fun and games were moved inside.

Our favorite new Ruby skills are the hugs and kisses that she gives either unprovoked or with a simple request. What joy in that! Nothing better than her little arms wrapped tightly around your neck and deep sighs in your ear.

Please Don't Feed the Animals.

Daddy Post: Little Ruby has been exercising her autonomy lately by feeding Jack her food out of the dog bowl while intermittently slipping a few kibbles for herself. Jack also seems to agree that her food tastes better this way. She has also developed a new affinity for clementines minus the skins as seen in the picture posted here. Afterwards, she likes to call up her peeps and let them know.

Her new hand signs are "banana" (peeling a finger) and "baby" (rocking arms back and forth). She's also pronouncing "cat" and "dog" more succinctly.

Congratulations to John and Wajma for their engagement. Ruby (& Doyle) request some offspring sooner than later. No pressure.
