Chinese New Year

Little Clippers

Momma Post: Willa and I took Ruby to her hair appointment at Little Clippers in Lake Oswego last Monday. As you can partially see, it more about the toys, Disney movie, pink Corvette, Dum Dum suckers, and balloon than the actual new hair style. It's slightly over the top, but it's cheap entertainment ($16.95 + tip) for a fun outing. In the last picture, you can see Ruby sporting that new hair doo . If you look closely, you will also notice Ruby and Willa struggling over who is truly behind the wheel.

Hot Wheels

Momma Post: These photos depict the cold, dry weather we've been experiencing this January. Ruby and Willa have both been enjoying their bike and trike respectively. Ruby is becoming more adventurous on her Strider Rider by coasting on the sidewalks, especially when there's a little incline. Willa sits up proud on the Kettler tricycle with either one of her parents using the push-bar to steer her along. Usual routes are to Grant Park, where the swings are a favorite, or shortened loops three or four blocks in any direction.

Getting Goofy

Daddy Post: These pictures were taking over the past couple of weeks with no real purpose other than just wanting to document the girls' personalities and their enjoyment playing around the house. The bite is on Willa courtesy of Ruby. It wasn't as bad as it looks.

Christmas Morning

Daddy Post: Ok, so we're a bit behind in our posts and Christmas seems like a year ago but here is a brief recap of our morning at home with just us and the girls. We kept it pretty simple with the gifts. After waking the girls and doing some brief staging we brought them into the living room. Firstly, we showed Ruby that Santa and his reindeer had been there since the cookies were gone as were the carrots we left out. I never really considered myself to be one promoting the idea of Santa Claus, but I figure it works simply because I can use it as a threat to the girls when they're misbehaving. Plus, it is a test to start improving the girls' critical thinking skills.

Anyhow, Ruby scored some fairy wings and Candyland. The fairy wings have been a huge hit as Ruby wears them damn near daily with her tiera and ballet slippers. Willa scored a new play table from IKEA as well as some new toys to play with (i.e. Russian stacker). All in all we had a great time staying local this year as it was nice building on our own Christmas traditions.
