Bed, Bath, and Beyond

Momma Post: On a good night, the girls are bathed and receive a bedtime story. Willa likes to be rocked in the vintage orange Craigslist chair, while nursing or having a bottle. Ruby prefers a parent to lay down next to her, saying "let's talk", which is her special time to discuss the day's events. "Play wid Bryan and Asher." "Spider, ran away, scared." "I wanna watch Caaarrrss." "Barmilk, barmilk, green one, apple."

Last night we took these pictures at bathtime. Willa is now pulling herself up on furniture and is shown here being entertained by her sister.

Hooray for Father's Day!

Thanks to Marty and the girls for a rewarding day hiking Tryon Creek and drinking a few beers at Deschutes brewery. I'm a very lucky guy.

Mover and Shaker

Momma Post: Big news, this evening Willa crawled forward more than 5-feet across the rug in the living room five times. I kept moving her back to her starting point just to see her do it again. Willa was fixated on the "bucking bronco" or rocking horse and was determined to share in Ruby's pony ride. Oddly, I swear she was almost nonchalant about the whole thing...like she's been crawling for years.

Other things to note:
- Willa's a biter and likes to munch on pant legs, shoulders and fingers.
- She's going through a separation anxiety phase, crying when left at school and throughout the evening until either parent rocks her back to sleep, often ending up in bed with us (see pictures).
- When she's happy, her legs kick up and down with gusto. Willa's a very smiley baby with dimples to boot, but, boy when she's mad, watch out!
- This past week she began talking in bah bah speak, which Ruby will imitate.
- Willa loves carrots and prefers to jam a spoon in her mouth. I holds one spoon that does the actual feeding, while Willa hold her own for gumming or waving.
- Willa likes crinkling up paper in her fists, especially newspaper that's being read.
- Amazingly, we're still using the Bjorn with her and she quietly takes in the world during walks.

Heaven

Momma Post: I don't know if it gets much better than this...

Highway to the Fun Zone!!!

Daddy Post: Last weekend Marty had a girls retreat with her sorority sisters so Ruby, Willa, and I decided to take a walk around the waterfront loop where coincidentally the Rose Festival was getting started. Ruby was immediately enamored with the rides repeatedly requesting to "do dat!" Out of curiosity I took her in and was surprised to see that she met the minimum height requirement for the kiddie rides. As you can see she was very excited about riding her ATV and flying a plane. The day prior we went to the zoo and finished the day by riding the train. Ruby was ecstatic and Willa was just happy to drink from her bottle. Sorry I don't have any good pictures of Willa, but it's hard to take a self-portrait with my iphone while Willa is strapped to my chest in the baby bjorn. Grandma Joan was in town this week as well and the girls throughly enjoyed their time with her. Life is good. Peace.
