Momma Post: Here I am trying to catch up on blogging. Over a week ago now, we had our second ultrasound where the technician made numerous development measurements and we were able to take a glimpse at the gender. Baby was wiggling and kept putting hands or feet in between its' legs, so viewing was difficult. Towards the end of the session, the technician felt she was able to determine the sex of the baby with not absolute certainty that we're having a girl. We were somewhat hesitant about the news as she kept saying to keep all of our receipts on any baby clothes purchases. Matt and I are about 85 to 90% positive that the baby is a girl. The pictures above show a very wiggly baby and a closeup of a rather skeletal face. I'm getting used to the fact that babies at 18 weeks don't have those chubby cheeks just yet.
With that said, I'm really thrilled about having two girls. I believe same sex siblings have a special relationship. My mother was very close to her sisters, as is Matt's mom with hers. I like the idea of the girls having a "we're in this together" kind of relationship. Matt always tells me one of the best lessons he learned from his mom was after a fight with one of his brothers Mark and/or John, Joan would tell him that his brothers would always be his best friends, regardless of any spat. I think that's great advice...a lesson to instill early and often.
